Theory Workshops (Thursday Evenings or Weekends)

SESSION 6 OF WINTER 2011 COURSE: ‘Strength-Training for Endurance Runners’

THURSDAY, 19 APRIL – 7.30pm to 9.30pm, at Wagon Lane, Bingley

The workshop will be delivered by Graeme Woodward (Calderdale Athletics Network) and will comprise a mix of practical and theory and answer these key questions:
• What is strength training?
• Why should a runner get stronger?
• What are the myths around strength training, which have some truth in them and which can be ignored?
• How do I get stronger without getting bigger?
• What exercises should I do, how many and what rest periods should I use?
• What is the safe way to do these exercises?
• How do I plan these sessions so I don’t lose effective running time?

Graeme Woodward is an active club runner who is an accredited UKSCA strength & conditioning coach with experience of coaching athletes in a range of sports to international level.
